Canada vs America

One thing I love about traveling is that it changes your perception of life, broadens your horizons and widens your perspectives...ok so maybe that was not one thing but they are all interrelated!

I have family in Mississauga so for 5 years or so while I was living in Jamaica and then New York, my dad and sisters would drive up from NY pass the beautiful Niagara Falls and visit our family for Christmas. One of my favorite things to do would be to walk to the Lake Ontario (it was less than a 2 min walk from the house). It is just so beautiful and peaceful.

So anyways, before my Canadians get all antsy - this is not going to be a negative report on Canada! This time I realized the huge difference in cleanliness. Living in NYC pretty much anywhere is cleaner than there but I noticed how lush the green grass was, how clean the streets were and the modern infrastructure.

While driving downtown Toronto, I also noticed an absence of popular fastfood restaurants. While I am sure there are many McDonalds, KFC, burger joints- there is such a huge dominance of these restaurants in America- in the city, on the highways, in the suburbs- just all over.

From Jan to about June 2007,I seriously visited a bunch of states and countries to find a place to relocate to to no avail. However, I could see myself living in Toronto for about one year: Deloitte did you hear that?... I'm accepting job offers for Fall 2010!

There is also a very relaxed chill pace that I enjoyed while living in Jamaica and China. I was really calm, did not feel stressed because of too many things on my unrealistic to-do list and I did not even wear makeup while I was there!

Don't get me wrong, New York and I are OK. We had a love/hate relationship but we are over that. I still love New York and always will. I still want to live there for at least another year after I get back from China... I'm just saying... keeping my options open. Ideally, I would like to live in Canada for a year, London for another (or 4 years!) and continent hop for 6 mths at a time!
